Raised on the island of Saaremaa, Sander Mölder first started his career as a musician with seven years of cello tuition. Although now mainly known for being a DJ, classical music still holds a place in his heart, as he is currently studying for a masters degree in composition at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He also plays the piano, has performed in a few vocal ensembles and studied digital music for a year in Brighton, UK. In 2011 Sander was chosen after rigorous competition to participate in the Red Bull Music Academy, at the end of which he had the opportunity to open for the renowned American rapper MF Doom. Estonian weekly newspaper Eesti Ekspress chose Mölder as its “Future Star of 2012”. His performances are filled with an eclectic and interesting mix of different styles, with some soulful and classic elements. “One thing that I just can’t get past, is the fact that every track needs to have something beautiful – a beautiful sound,” says Sander. Which is perhaps why his music has found such a wide audience.
